Disney Holidays for Grown Ups

At Disney Destinations training last week, one fact completely astonished me, 40% of guests at Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line are adults only!

I’m not sure why it was such a surprise, up until 2015 I had visited Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris as an adult only party. And I have friends that have too. But you know when you just have a light bulb moment?!

My husband and I joked last summer that Disney is wasted on children as we observed many parents try to wrangle their kids, and force excitement and joy into them. Us included. We just weren’t sure they appreciate how special a holiday there is.

In this blog post, we’re going to focus on Disney from a different point of view, how to enjoy Disney Destinations as a grown up (on the outside!). For more about our family trips, read our Florida Blog and Disneyland Paris Blog.

Foodies Delight in Disneyland ® Paris

There are over 50 dining venues across the Resort. Great choices at any time of day, including American, French, Italian and Tex Mex, plus seafood and plenty of snacks. Two places we would recommend is Bistrot Chez Rémy in Walt Disney Studio Park and the newly opened Vapiano in the Disney Village, an exciting different approach to fast service Italian food. Each bar has a signature drink too, so take the time to visit several bars throughout the resort.

Meal plans are an easy, affordable and hugely flexible way for you to pay for your meals in advance. You can choose from three Meal Plan types, and then tailor your selection with options to suit your taste and budget.

Thrill Seekers at Disneyland ® Paris

Not all rides are suitable for small children – so this is your time to shine. Get your adrenaline fix on some of the most imaginative rides in the world, our favourites include the Tower of Terror, Aerosmith’s Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster and the newly updated Big Thunder Mountain. Staying in a Disney ® Hotel you can enjoy Extra Magic Time. This is exclusive to hotel guests. You can enter the park an hour earlier on certain days of the week. WIthout children in tow you can make the most of an early doors start. FastPass ® and Single Rider help you cut down on queuing times at some of the most popular attractions in the park.

Take time to enjoy hotel facilities at Disneyland ® Paris

Take full advantage of all that is available where you are staying. Within the Disneyland ® Paris hotels there are spa facilities and most hotels in the resort have a swimming pool. Be sure to rest your feet after long days in the park.

In the best possible way, Disney Springs is a distinctly different district of the Resort. It’s a place for fashion-forward finds at flagship stores. It’s a place for culinary adventures with world-famous chefs, and loads of exciting entertainment. Find over 100 shops, boutiques and international brands for shopping. There is a World of Recreation at Walt Disney World

Everyone knows just how magical the Walt Disney World Parks can be. But the best Walt Disney World holidays feature recreation and relaxation options to expand your horizons. At Disney’s Boardwalk, the 1940s-themed waterfront, combines the charm of a coastal village with contemporary cool. Indulge in award-winning food, try brewed ales, sing along at Jellyrolls, and swing along at the Atlantic Dance Hall. Sports fans will love this 230-acre professionally run, state-of-the-art facility for over 60 sports! Tee off in the Florida sunshine with mini golf or one of the four championship golf courses!

Disney Resort Hotels are packed with a huge range of activities to make the most of your recreation time. Sports, tennis, fishing and more such as basketball, jogging trails, bike rentals. Water sports, guests can try water skiing, wake boarding – even parasailing! Relax in the world class spas, hire a cabana by the pool at Disney’s Contemporary Resort or Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. If you want to get back to nature, there are horse-riding & carriage rides to sit back and enjoy the scenery. Toast marshmallows around the fire in the evenings.

Having the time of your life is hungry work

Luckily, at Walt Disney World Resort, there are countless tasty offerings for you to feast on whenever you feel peckish! Some of the best meals of my life were in the Walt Disney World Resorts. The best burger I’ve ever eaten was at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the best curry I’ve ever had was at the Animal Kingdom.

Taste your way around the world with a vast range of international cuisine to tempt your taste buds. There are sample menus of what you can expect at disneyworld.com.

Adult Only is our theme right? So of course I’m mentioning adult liberation. While Disney is a family-themed place, they definitely cater to all ages – the 21+ crowd in particular with the large amount of watering holes found throughout the property.

Whatever you’re desiring you’ll find it at Disney. Tiki-bars, wine cellars, upscale lounges – it’s all here. Disney does great with tons of themed bars, interesting beverages, and friendly with uber helpful bartenders.

Take a backstage tour

One of the cool things about being an adult at Disney is you’re old enough to go on all of their backstage tours! We have been on two – Behind the Seeds Tour at Epcot and Keys to the Kingdom Tour at Magic Kingdom. The Behind the Seeds Tour took us behind the Living with the Land attraction at Epcot and explained all about Disney’s hydroponic vegetable growing. The Keys to the Kingdom Tour was fantastic, it took us behind the scenes of the Magic Kingdom and into some backstage areas and even underground into the tunnels underneath the Magic Kingdom!

Adult pool area on the Disney Dream cruise ship while it is docked at Nassua, Bahamas. The two Disney stacks in the background belong to the Disney Magic berthed next door.

Discover a World of Wonder Aboard Disney Cruise Line

There is a real Disney difference to all other cruise lines, and while you’d be forgiven for thinking this is a family cruise line, and children do almost have an entire deck to themselves, there are exclusive areas just for adults too.

Relax in the luxurious spas or adults only pool area. Kick back at the adult-exclusive coffee bar. Indulge in exquisite dining at a restaurant just for grown ups., then let loose in our unique lounges and clubs.

I think Disney actually cover for adult only groups better than other cruise lines, with so much on offer. The Disney Differences include, Award-Winning, Exclusive Musicals, Disney Deck Parties, Magical Movies, Character Experiences, Themed Days at Sea, Rotational Dining and an app to plan your trip.

Delicious Dining on Disney Cruise Line

Sophisticated, subtle elegance and Northern Italian cuisine are available exclusively to grown ups at Palo. Or if you’re in the mood for French fare, try Remy with its seasonal menu crafted by award-winning chefs.

A private island, Disney’s Castaway Cay

Yes there is a Neverland – it’s a Bahamian island, exclusive to Disney Cruise Line guests. There is a special area just for adults. You can unwind at the secluded Serenity Bay. Kick back on the lounges, enjoy a massage Cabana.

Hopefully, this blog post has inspired you to plan a trip to one of these fantastic Disney Destinations. If you have to get to Disney NOW – What next?! Simple, just get in touch with our reservations team.
