Why are cruise holidays becoming so popular?

I make no secret of the fact that the Holroyds LOVE  cruise holidays. They are by far one of the easiest, most fun ways to travel. Especially as I have a young family but we’ve cruised as a couple, as a group and as a family. Cruise holidays are so versatile there is something to suit every type of traveller. I’m forever telling our clients that there is a ship and a cruise line for everyone – you just need a really decent travel agent, who knows their stuff and can help you pick one to suit you. Pick incorrectly and you’ll never take a cruise holiday again, pick wisely and you’ll never look back!

*Strawberry Holidays prefer a select number of cruise lines, so you’ll not find an exhaustive list of options in this post. But we do sell all cruise lines for your cruise holidays.*

So much choice

There are many options to consider when planning your cruise holidays which is why so many people are turning to bespoke travel agents, like Strawberry Holidays to help. A holiday is supposed to be relaxing but the preparation rarely is. Questions such as: where to go, what to do, and how to get there all get people reaching for the phone to call us!

In recent times the number of cruise holiday options have broadened and improved which is a testament to how popular they’re growing as a holiday option. Themed-cruises such as family cruises, singles’ cruises and golf cruises are available for travelers seeking a unique brand of fun and relaxation. There are many reasons why cruises are so popular.

  1. All in one holiday

I regular tell my clients that cruise holidays are like having 4 in 1. We cruised in the summer as a family and we felt we had a beach holiday, a city break, a family holiday and a couple’s holiday all rolled into one! We spent days at sea lounging by the pool, soaking up the sun in the middle of the Med. We spent a few days exploring the most wonderful Italian city highlights, Naples, Rome, Florence and Barcelona. We spent time as a family, eating well, going to shows, splashing in the pool. We spent quality time as a couple with Abigail firmly in the kids club enjoying the company of her new friends.

On cruise holidays you visit so many different destinations and unpack once. All of this can be enjoyed while traveling between destinations. When the ship docks, the various locations may be explored and local culture sampled. There is no need to scour the phone book and maps to find restaurants, they are right there on the ship.

  1. Pampering

The goals of any holiday are relaxation and rejuvenation and you’re not short of pampering options on board a ship. Making a cruise holiday an easy choice for the weary traveller. But we’re talking about beyond the world-class spas. We’re also talking about sunbathing, hot tubs, and free specialised childcare. As well as a guest to crew ratio meaning that you’re every whim is catered for.

Parents can spend a relaxing afternoon of massage, hot tubs, and sunbathing, while the children can spend a day of running, jumping, swimming and playing while being taken care of by qualified persons, just down the deck from where their parents are.

  1. A good multi-generation family holiday

You stay together but also enjoy separate holidays. Many of our clients book for the family and the kids rule the roost, so they rule the choice of holiday. But a cruise holiday has fun for the whole family without any compromise. Mum and dad can enjoy time sunbathing, in the hot tubs, getting a massage, having a date night. All the while the kids are enjoying the specialist care by qualified persons in the kids clubs.

This is why it also works for groups and multi-gen family holidays. There’s no compromise, no need for swapping nights to babysit, everyone can have the holiday they want, and tie in that all important family time. At Strawberry Holidays we get enquiries for clients looking for a special holiday for a celebration – we always start at a cruise holiday for exactly these reasons.

  1. Food

One of the key selling points for a cruise holiday is the food. The standard is exceptional. Most cruise ships hire top quality chefs from all over the world to cook in their kitchens. Many have studied at top culinary institutions and they then train the teams. You’ll also see many cruise lines “team up” with world-renowned chefs. P&O work with Marco Pierre White and Eric Lanlard. You’ll find them onboard on selected sailings. Carnival Cruise Line work with Georges Blanc, a renowned master chef from France.

There are very few holidays where you will find so much choice for dining. Casual poolside bars sit alongside fine-dining a la carte restaurants. Menu options for every palette make the cruise holiday surely perfect for a group.

  1. Value

Hopefully all the above is showing what great value you can expect from a cruise holiday. Cruises offer great value for those on a budget. That’s because everything can be bought in one package. The majority of everyone’s needs such as transport and accommodation are included in one price.

If you consider airfare, hotel stays, a rental car, and meals into the cost of a multi destination holiday, even a short trip can get expensive. Taking a cruise addresses this problem by consolidating these costs into one package.

We choose cruises for our holidays because of their value, food, pampering, and family friendly, all-in-one atmosphere. For many, romance (there’s something extremely romantic about sailing), variety, entertainment, reunions, new experiences, and simplicity also rank high on the list of reasons for choosing a cruise holiday. No matter the reason for choosing one, a cruise is a great value, offering relaxation and fun in a family-friendly atmosphere with good food and entertainment all in one unique location.
